What you get

X Country Battle is a leaderboard of countries built one account at a time. Enter an X username: the account's country, as shown by X, gets one point, and the page shows where that country now stands and how far it is from the one above.

How the battle works

  1. Enter an X username. It can be pasted as a name or as a profile link.
  2. The country is checked. CutNoodle's server reads where the account is based from X's public "About this account" information, through FxTwitter.
  3. The account is counted once. Its country gets one point. Entering the same account again changes nothing.
  4. The leaderboard moves. You see the country's new position, the account's number within the country and the gap to the country above.
  5. Share a card. Three cards are made for you: your country, the world leaderboard and the battle with the country just ahead. Each one carries the time of the standings.

How to read the leaderboard

  • The number is accounts counted here, not people and not the size of a country on X. A country with few entries simply has not been shared much yet.
  • "Behind" is the gap to the country directly above. Passing it takes one account more than the gap: on equal totals the country that got there first stays ahead.
  • "Today" is the number of accounts added since midnight UTC.
  • The time is UTC and is the moment the standings were last rebuilt, at most about a minute before you read them.

What it cannot do

  • It cannot verify that an account belongs to the person who enters it. There is no login.
  • It cannot count an account whose country is hidden on X, or whose region is not on our list yet.
  • It does not tell bots from people: an account that exists on X and shows a country counts.
  • It uses X's own "based in" value, which X derives from signals such as the connection in use. A VPN or a move can make it differ from where someone lives.
  • It depends on FxTwitter, a free independent service. When that service is down, new accounts cannot be checked; the leaderboard stays readable.

Where your data goes

Unlike the other X tools on CutNoodle, here the username goes to CutNoodle's own server, because a point sent from a browser alone could be faked. The server reads the account's public profile and country from FxTwitter and saves the account's numeric ID, the country code, whether the country was picked by hand and the date. The username, display name and photo are sent back to your browser to draw the card and are not saved. To limit abuse the server also keeps, until the end of the following day, a scrambled fingerprint of the connection that added an account; it cannot be turned back into an IP address by reading the database. Only totals per country are public. See the privacy policy.

Common questions

Where does the country come from?

From X itself. Every public account has an "About this account" panel that says where the account is based. CutNoodle's server reads that value and never asks the visitor to declare a country, except in the one case below.

X shows only a region for my account. Can I still join?

Yes. Some accounts show a region such as Europe or South Asia instead of a country. In that case you pick the country, but only among the countries of that region, and the choice cannot be changed afterwards.

Can one account count more than once?

No. An account is recognized by its permanent numeric ID on X, so it counts once, whoever enters it and however many times. Renaming the account does not give it a second point.

Can I add an account that is not mine?

Yes. There is no X login, so the page cannot know whose account it is. Each point is a real X account based in that country, not a person who chose to take part, which is why the leaderboard counts accounts and never says users. One connection can add at most 20 new accounts per day.

What does CutNoodle save?

The account's numeric ID, the country code, whether the country was picked by hand, and the date. It does not save the username, the display name or the photo, and the leaderboard publishes only totals per country. To have an account removed, write to support@cut-noodle.com.

Is this an official X ranking?

No. CutNoodle is independent from X Corp and FxEmbed. The leaderboard counts only the accounts entered on this page, so it says which countries turned up here, not how many accounts each country has on X.
