Open-source licences
Last updated: 30 September 2026
CutNoodle uses open-source software. The authors of that software keep their copyright, and their own licence terms continue to apply. This page provides the notices and source information for the principal third-party components delivered to your browser.
FFmpeg WebAssembly
CutNoodle currently distributes @ffmpeg/core 0.12.10 and @ffmpeg/core-mt 0.12.10. Their executable cores are licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. The ffmpeg.wasm JavaScript wrapper and binding code are MIT licensed.

What CutNoodle changes
CutNoodle copies the upstream JavaScript and worker files unchanged. The large WebAssembly file is divided into numbered pieces solely for delivery and reconstructed byte for byte in the browser. The source notice identifies the immutable upstream release, every linked library revision, the build recipe and the npm integrity values.
Request the source
The corresponding source is available through the links above. You may also request a complete machine-readable copy at no charge by emailing support@cut-noodle.com. This offer remains valid while CutNoodle distributes these files and for at least three years after its last distribution.
Mediabunny
CutNoodle uses Mediabunny 1.58.0 for browser-based media reading, writing and conversion. It is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. CutNoodle does not modify its source files; the notice identifies the exact upstream release and the downloadable source archive.
MediaPipe, Transformers.js and caption fonts
The local face-detection runtime and model, and the local speech transcription libraries, are distributed under the Apache License 2.0. The six caption fonts are distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 with their individual copyright notices.
No warranty from upstream authors
The open-source software is provided without warranty, as described in its licence. CutNoodle is not affiliated with FFmpeg or the ffmpeg.wasm maintainers, and does not speak on their behalf.
