How to make an X followers header

Use a 1500×500 canvas, fill it with a balanced selection of public follower photos, keep important content away from the crop-prone top and bottom edges, and export the final design as a JPG. If you want motion, export the same 3:1 composition as an MP4 for a post: X does not allow an animated file as the profile header itself.

A wall of familiar profile photos works because it explains the account at a glance: these are the people around it. The hard part is not drawing circles. It is choosing enough profiles, filling the entire banner without a ragged final row, and producing versions that still look intentional after X crops the header.

CutNoodle is independent from X Corp. X is referenced only to identify the platform and its profile-header format.

Start with the actual X header dimensions

The X Help Center recommends 1500×500 pixels for a header image. That is a 3:1 canvas. X also warns that as much as 60 pixels at the top and bottom can be cropped depending on the screen and browser, so a design should not rely on tiny text pressed against an edge.

The profile photo overlaps the lower-left portion of the header. A useful preview should show that overlap before download, even though the JPG itself contains only the banner. This prevents an important face or label from ending up underneath the account's avatar.

Followers and following tell different stories

A first scan can collect more people than the header currently displays. Choosing 100, 200, 300 or 400 changes both the density and the size of each portrait. Regenerate people makes another selection from that collected pool, which is useful when the first mix contains too many similar avatars or simply does not feel right.

How to create the header

  1. Open X Followers Header and enter a public X username.
  2. Choose Followers or Following and let the public profiles load.
  3. Start with 100 people, then try a denser 200, 300 or 400-person version if those quantities are available.
  4. Adjust the background, spacing and photo outlines. Use Regenerate people until the selection feels balanced.
  5. Download the 1500×500 JPG and upload it from Edit profile on X.

Static header versus animated versions

X explicitly says it does not support animated GIFs as profile or header images. The downloadable JPG is therefore the file intended for the profile background. The animated files are MP4 videos for posts, not replacements for that JPG.

What happens to the profile data

The tool reads public profile and relationship data without asking for an X login. The JPG and MP4 are rendered in the browser. Public availability can change, and a temporary list failure can mean fewer profiles are returned in one scan than another. Private follower and following lists remain unavailable.

Common questions

What size should an X profile header be?

X recommends 1500×500 pixels. Parts near the top and bottom may be cropped on some screens, so important faces and text should not sit directly against those edges.

Can an X profile header be animated?

No. X does not support animated profile or header images. Use the JPG as the actual profile header and share the 1500×500 animated MP4 as a post.

Which followers appear in the header?

CutNoodle builds a mix from the public follower or following profiles it can read. The order is not a ranking. Regenerate people creates another selection from the profiles collected in that scan.

Does the tool work with private accounts?

No. A private relationship list cannot be read publicly. The tool does not ask for an X password or sign in to the account on your behalf.

Create your X followers header, then download the JPG or either animated MP4 format.
