# CutNoodle > Free browser tools for creators, with no account and nothing to install. Three families: video and audio tools that process files on the user's own computer with the browser's own media engines and ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly (nothing is uploaded), a screenshot editor that draws and saves images in the browser, and X (Twitter) tools that read public posts and turn an account's activity into shareable images. ## Tools - [Remove Silence From Video](https://cut-noodle.com/remove-silence): finds the silent passages in a video by loudness and removes them; every cut appears on an editable timeline (trim, split, merge, duplicate, reorder, delete, per-clip volume 0-200%, undo). Opens MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV up to 2 GB. Exports MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio. - [Simple Audio Editor](https://cut-noodle.com/clean-audio): cuts an audio file into clips, removes long pauses automatically, sets the volume and fades of each clip, and normalizes to -16 LUFS integrated with a -1.5 dBTP true peak ceiling. Opens MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG and FLAC up to 2 GB. Exports MP3 or M4A (128, 192 or 320 kbit/s) or WAV. - [Video Compressor](https://cut-noodle.com/compress-video): re-encodes a video at a lower bitrate to make the file smaller, with three quality presets, optional downscaling to 1080p, 720p or 480p (measured on the short side, never upscaled), an option to halve the frame rate of 50 or 60 fps videos, and an optional target size in megabytes. Shows the estimated output size and, when the browser's own encoders are used, an estimated time measured on the user's device before compressing; never returns a file larger than the original. Opens MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV and AVI up to 4 GB. Exports MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio. - [Subtitles Lite](https://cut-noodle.com/add-subtitles): the on-device subtitle tool (a faster cloud version, Subtitles Premium, is planned and not available yet). Turns the speech in a video into subtitles, lets the user correct the text and the timing on a timeline, style them and export the video with the subtitles burned in. The transcription is done by a Whisper speech model (Tiny, Base or Small) running in the browser, with a time for every word; the language is recognized automatically. Eight styles, ten fonts, text, highlight and background colours, outline, size, position, a choice of animation (the style's own, none, fade, pop or rise) and two, four or six words per subtitle. Subtitles can be imported from an .srt or .vtt file instead of transcribing, and downloaded as .srt or .vtt. Opens MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV and AVI up to 60 minutes and 2 GB. Exports MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio at the original resolution. The first use on each device downloads the speech model once (39 to 559 MB depending on the model and the browser); it is then kept in the browser. - [Screenshot Editor](https://cut-noodle.com/screenshot-editor): makes a screenshot ready to post, in the browser: background (gradients, solid colours, 20 mesh and glow backgrounds drawn by code, 49 Unsplash photos, or the user's own picture, blurred or sharp), padding, rounded corners, shadow, a browser window or a generic phone, tablet or laptop frame, 3D tilt, text, arrows, shapes, highlighter, and Blur or Pixelate zones. Formats Auto, 16:9, 1:1, 4:5, 9:16, X post, LinkedIn, YouTube thumbnail and link preview. Exports PNG, JPEG or WebP at 1x to 4x, and six short animations as MP4, WebM or GIF. Other tabs turn a public X post or a piece of code into an image, make up to 10 App Store or Google Play screens, and convert up to 50 images at once. Opens PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and AVIF. No sign-up; a small cut-noodle.com/screenshot-editor credit in the bottom right corner is on by default and can be turned off under Export. - [X Circle](https://cut-noodle.com/x-circle): draws the people an X (Twitter) account interacts with most, as rings around its profile photo. Reads the account's recent public posts and the posts that mention it through a free third-party service that reads public X posts, directly from the browser; scores each person by interaction type (reply 3, quote 2.5, mention 1.5, repost 1), by age (half-life 30 days) and by reciprocity. Styles: solid or gradient background, photo size, 10 to 50 people, usernames, rank numbers, ring lines. Exports a 1200x1200 PNG; an optional share link stores the circle on a CutNoodle server for 7 days. No login. - [X Mosaic](https://cut-noodle.com/x-mosaic): the same people and the same score as X Circle, laid out as a photo mosaic of square tiles instead of rings. Three layouts: Tiles (the account as the largest tile, the top of the ranking as medium tiles, everyone else small, filling the picture edge to edge), Grid (equal photos around a larger one in the centre) and Rows (the account on top, rows of smaller and smaller photos below). Styles: solid or gradient background, spacing between tiles, rounded corners, 10 to 50 people, usernames, rank numbers. Exports a PNG in four formats: square 1200x1200, landscape 4:3 1600x1200, portrait 3:4 1200x1600 or story 9:16 1080x1920; an optional share link stores the mosaic on a CutNoodle server for 7 days. No login. - [X Friendship Test](https://cut-noodle.com/x-friendship): measures how much two X (Twitter) accounts reply to, quote, mention and repost each other, as a score from 0 to 100%. Reads both accounts' recent public posts (up to 120 days) through a free third-party service, directly from the browser, and counts only the days both timelines cover. The score adds four declared parts: reciprocity (35 points), volume weighted by interaction type (30), share of weeks with an interaction (20) and recency with a 30-day half-life (15). Exports a card as a 1080x1440 or 1080x1920 PNG. No login, nothing stored. - [X Time Machine](https://cut-noodle.com/x-time-machine): shows the post an X (Twitter) account wrote exactly one calendar month ago today. Searches the account's public posts by date through a free third-party service, directly from the browser, and keeps only posts by that exact account (matched by its permanent ID), not reposts, written on that day. When date search is unavailable it tries the public account timeline; extremely active accounts can still exceed the history X exposes for a month, and the page reports that limit instead of inventing a result. With several posts it shows the most viewed, posts and quotes ahead of replies, and lists the rest. With none that day it shows the closest post within 30 days either side, stamped with how many days early or late it is; after a longer silence, a "missing" poster with the last time the account posted; for an account created later, its very first post (or a birth certificate if it never posted). Exports a card as a 1080x1440 or 1080x1920 PNG. No login, nothing stored. - [X Shadowban Checker](https://cut-noodle.com/x-shadowban-checker): a free shadowban test for any public X (Twitter) account, formerly called X Visibility Check. It runs four tests: search suggestion ban (the exact account in public suggestions, asked up to three times), search ban (up to twelve posts from the last fourteen days compared with a separate Latest search, confirmed by a second search), ghost ban (a confirmed search miss together with replies nobody else can see) and reply deboosting (up to three recent replies on the first page of their parent conversations). Each test is reported as not found, possible or not tested, under one headline: No shadowban found, a possible named ban, or Not enough to test. A test whose public data is not answering is left out of the result and named in a line under it. It never claims access to X's private labels, For You ranking or notifications. No login, nothing stored. - [X Country Battle](https://cut-noodle.com/x-country-battle): a world leaderboard of countries where every X (Twitter) account counts once. A username goes in; CutNoodle's server reads the country X publicly shows the account as based in (the "About this account" panel) through a free third-party service, and that country gets one point. An account is recognized by its permanent numeric ID, so entering it again, or after a rename, changes nothing. An account that shows only a region (for example Europe) picks its country among the countries of that region, once. The page shows the country's rank, the account's number within the country, the gap to the country above and the accounts added today (UTC). Three cards (My country, Leaderboard, Battle) export as 1080x720 or 1080x1440 PNG, each with the time of the standings. Every 12 days the 8 countries that added the most accounts in the 12 days before play the X Country Cup, a knockout of three 4-day UTC rounds (quarter-finals, semi-finals, final) with a bracket fixed by qualifying rank (1st v 8th, 4th v 5th, 2nd v 7th, 3rd v 6th) and dates known from the first day. A match is won by the country with more votes during its round: anyone can vote, from any country and with no X account or login, by tapping a country; one vote per match per browser, and at most 5 votes per match from one connection. On a tie, 0-0 included, the country that qualified higher goes through. The next cup starts by itself the day after the final. Accounts count on the all-time leaderboard and for qualifying, always for the country X shows, not in matches. A match card can be shared without adding an account; after joining, a fourth card (Match) is offered while the account's country is playing. No login. ## Facts - Price: free, no account, no forced watermark, no export quota. - Where it runs: in the browser tab, on the user's machine. The video and audio tools transmit no file to any server. The X tools work on public X data rather than a file and fetch it through a third-party service. X Shadowban Checker stores nothing; the five visual X tools send a result to CutNoodle only when the user explicitly creates an optional share link. X Country Battle is the exception: the username is checked by CutNoodle's own server, which saves the account's numeric ID, its country and the date (never the username, name or photo) and publishes only totals per country. - Requirements: a modern browser with WebAssembly support (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari). Nothing to install. - Maximum file size: 4 GB for the Video Compressor, 2 GB for Remove Silence From Video, Simple Audio Editor and Subtitles Lite. The Screenshot Editor has no fixed file size limit: an image larger than the device can handle is scaled down. - Work in progress is autosaved in the browser (IndexedDB) and can be resumed after closing the tab. This applies to the two editors, to Subtitles Lite (which saves the subtitles and the style, not the video) and to the Screenshot Editor, which also keeps the last screenshot itself; the Video Compressor is a single job and saves no session. - Subtitles Lite transcribes with a speech model that runs on the user's machine. The browser downloads that model once per device from Hugging Face (Tiny 39 or 114 MB, Base 73 or 197 MB, Small 238 or 559 MB; the larger figure applies when the browser can use the graphics card) and keeps it. No audio or video is sent to any server, and no paid transcription service is used. ## Pages - [Home](https://cut-noodle.com): the list of CutNoodle tools. - [How it works](https://cut-noodle.com/how-it-works): how the silence remover finds and cuts dead air, and why nothing is uploaded. - [Auto cut video silence](https://cut-noodle.com/auto-cut-video-silence): what automatic silence cutting measures and where it needs supervision. - [Local video editor](https://cut-noodle.com/local-video-editor): what running video processing locally in the browser gains and costs. - [Free jump cut tool](https://cut-noodle.com/free-jumpcut-tool): making jump cuts automatically, and keeping them from looking cheap. - [For YouTubers](https://cut-noodle.com/for-youtubers): removing pauses from talking-head videos. - [For podcasters](https://cut-noodle.com/for-podcasters): cutting dead air from a video podcast while keeping meaningful pauses. - [For course creators](https://cut-noodle.com/for-course-creators): tightening lesson recordings without uploading course material. - [For tutorial videos](https://cut-noodle.com/for-tutorial-videos): cutting the waiting out of screen recordings. - [CutNoodle vs Descript](https://cut-noodle.com/vs-descript): loudness-based local silence removal compared with transcript-based cloud editing. - [CutNoodle vs Premiere Pro](https://cut-noodle.com/vs-premiere-pro): a free silence pass compared with a professional editing suite. - [CutNoodle vs TimeBolt](https://cut-noodle.com/vs-timebolt): browser tool compared with a paid desktop app that exports timelines. - [CutNoodle vs auto-editor](https://cut-noodle.com/vs-auto-editor): browser timeline compared with a free command line tool. - [Ways to cut silence, compared](https://cut-noodle.com/alternatives): the main silence removal tools and which situation each one fits. - [Guides](https://cut-noodle.com/guides): index of the guides. - [How to cut silence in a video](https://cut-noodle.com/guides/how-to-cut-silence-in-a-video): settings, failure modes and how to review an automatic pass. - [How long should a pause be](https://cut-noodle.com/guides/how-long-should-a-pause-be): which pauses to cut and which to keep. - [What is a jump cut](https://cut-noodle.com/guides/what-is-a-jump-cut): the technique silence removal produces, and when to avoid it. - [How to check if you are shadowbanned on X (Twitter)](https://cut-noodle.com/guides/how-to-check-x-account-visibility): the four things people call a shadowban (search suggestion ban, search ban, ghost ban, reply deboosting), how to check each one by hand or with a free test, why missing search results are not proof by themselves, and what to do when a sign is there. - [What does "Account based in" mean on X?](https://cut-noodle.com/guides/x-account-based-in-country): where X shows the country an account is based in, how X works it out from where the account is used, why some accounts show a region or nothing, and why the value can be wrong. - [How to add subtitles to a video](https://cut-noodle.com/guides/how-to-add-subtitles-to-a-video): burned-in subtitles versus a subtitle file, what to correct in an automatic transcript, line length, contrast and placement. - [How to make a screenshot look good](https://cut-noodle.com/guides/how-to-make-a-screenshot-look-good): padding, background, shadow, frames, the right size for each platform and how to hide private details properly. - [How loud should a podcast be](https://cut-noodle.com/guides/how-loud-should-a-podcast-be): LUFS explained and the loudness targets of podcast platforms. - [Normalize audio online](https://cut-noodle.com/normalize-audio-online): peak versus loudness normalization and how to normalize a file in the browser. - [My audio came out too quiet](https://cut-noodle.com/audio-volume-too-quiet): why recordings come out quiet and what can and cannot be fixed. - [Cleaning up audio for a podcast](https://cut-noodle.com/clean-audio-for-podcasters): where trimming, levelling and fades belong in a podcast workflow. - [Privacy policy](https://cut-noodle.com/privacy): what CutNoodle does and does not collect. ## Limits - Remove Silence From Video detects silence by loudness only: no transcription, no subtitles, no filler-word removal. - Remove Silence From Video handles one video at a time: no batch mode, no timeline export to other editors, no multi-track editing, no effects, colour, titles or music. - Remove Silence From Video exports only MP4; above about 400 MB the export can run out of browser memory because the file is held in RAM while encoding. - Simple Audio Editor works on one track: no noise reduction, no equaliser, no de-esser, no multitrack mixing, no transcription. - Video Compressor handles one video at a time and only writes MP4 with H.264 and AAC: no HEVC, AV1 or WebM output, no batch mode, no trimming or editing, and HDR sources are converted to standard range. - Subtitles Lite cannot choose the language and does not translate; it does not tell speakers apart. One style, one animation and one position apply to the whole video. It handles one video at a time, up to 60 minutes, and only writes MP4 with the subtitles burned into the picture. An imported .srt or .vtt file carries no word timing, so word by word styles spread the words evenly over each line. - Subtitles Lite is slower than a cloud transcription service: measured with Chrome and the Base model on a computer whose graphics card the browser can use, transcription took between a fifth and two fifths of the video's length, and considerably longer without graphics acceleration. - X Circle sees public posts only (no likes, follows, direct messages or private accounts) and reads a few hundred recent posts, so for a very active account it covers only a few days. It depends on a free third-party service that reads public X posts: when that service is down X Circle is too, and when X search is not available the circle counts the replies under the account's posts instead of every mention. - X Mosaic has the same limits as X Circle: it reads the same posts through the same third-party service and ranks the same people; only the picture differs. - X Friendship Test sees public replies, quotes, mentions and reposts only (no likes, follows or direct messages), covers at most the last 120 days and never more than the latest ~3,200 posts of each account, so the first interaction it shows is the first in that stretch, not the day two accounts met. - X Time Machine sees public posts only (no private accounts, no deleted posts). Likes, reposts, views and the profile photo on the card are today's, because X keeps no history of them; it cannot show an old follower count, name or photo. It depends on the date search of a free third-party service: when that search is down, X Time Machine is too. - X Shadowban Checker observes public profile, suggestion, post-search and reply-conversation surfaces only. It cannot inspect personalized feeds, notifications, blocks, mutes, impressions or X's internal visibility labels. Missing posts can result from indexing, filters or an API outage, so a result is "possible" at most and never a definitive shadowban verdict. A reply absent from the first ranked and paginated conversation page is reported as not confirmed, never as a ban. It depends on a free third-party service whose search has been unreliable: when that search does not answer, the search ban test is left out of the result and a line says so. - X Country Battle counts only the accounts entered on CutNoodle, so it says which countries turned up there, not how many accounts a country has on X. There is no login, so it cannot verify that an account belongs to whoever enters it and does not tell bots from people: the numbers are accounts, not users. It cannot count an account whose country is hidden on X. It relies on X's own "based in" value, which a VPN or a move can make differ from where someone lives. One connection can add at most 20 new accounts per day. - Screenshot Editor does not take a screenshot of a web address, reads public X posts only, and does not retouch the picture itself. Frames are generic drawings, not real device mockups. The saved image is flat, with no layers. The first GIF downloads the same 31 MB video engine as the other tools. - Encoding in the browser is slower than a native desktop application on the same hardware, and very large files are limited by the memory the browser gives the page.
